Because We Are Pretty Hard Core

Ya, that's an M-16. It can empty a 100-round magazine in 7.2 seconds.

A Dialogue and a Story

"Dialogue"

Jaylyn:(to self) "What could I get Alex for Christmas?... Hmm. Jimmy Eat World = one of his very favesies of bands. I also thoroughly enjoy them. They just came out with a new album. Let's see if they're touring."
(Goes to Jimmy website)
Jaylyn:(still to self) "Hmm...next three months in Europe. Lame. I'll just leave the page and look at other bands. But wait! What is this I see? A show on October 30? Alas, that is Halloween, but I shall click on it anyway for fun."
(Click.)
Jaylyn:(out loud) "O-M-G!!!! " (then to self) "Tempe, AZ on October 30 and tickets are only $25?!?! Yes. Yeeees."
(Calls Alex, forsaking Christmas surprises in leiu of recent amazing news)
Jaylyn: "OMG! OMG! JIMMY!!"
Alex: "OMG! OMG! JIMMMMMMMYYYYYY!"
(Impulse buys tickets)
Alex: ".......... did we just impulse buy a road trip?"
Jaylyn: "Yes, yes we did."

Fast forward two weeks.
On our way to Jimmy, rocking the Aviators.

(Silence in the car for a little while)
Alex: "Are we seriously driving 7 hours for a concert?"
Jaylyn: "Ya, we're a little crazy, eh? Hehe."

We tried to take pics at the concert, but this is really the only one that turned out (unfortunately) because the lights were still up.
I'm reeeaaaalllly excited. Can you tell?

I didn't include this one in the total count of pictures that turned out because...well, you can see. It's funny, though, so I wanted to include it anyway. It may look like a crazy-face game picture, but this was my reaction to the first flash, not realizing it hadn't taken the picture yet. Hehe.

Anyway, the concert absolutely rocked my socks off. And Alex's. It was so much fun, and they were SOOooo good live.

(Silence in the car on the way home)
Alex: "That was so worth it."
Jaylyn: "Ya, impulse road trips to see freakin rockin bands are awesome. Let's do it again sometime."
Alex: "Mmmkay, honey."

Birthdays and Such

I had such a spectacular birthday! Alex got me these AWESOME gifts!

I've been daydreaming about this chair from Pier 1 for over a month but was too afraid to splurge, so Alex did it for me. He is great.

YAY! A place for all my crafty stuffs!

YAY! A purse! And it's PURPLE! And perfect. I've been needing a new one for months and months. Poor Alex has had to listen to me complain about it the whole time. He is so sweet.

Look at these flowers. Aren't they beautiful? And are they full of all my favorite flowers that my husband knows off the top of his head? Yes, they are. I was the envy of all the girls at my work. Sshh, don't tell, but my husband is better than all of theirs.

We went to Gun Barrell with our couple besties, Dan and Stacy Telford. Love them.

Thanks to everyone for making it such a stupendous birthday, but especially to my superbly awesome hubby!

Don't want to put a damper on the super happy birthday post, but I have to mention how disappointed I am that Morgan Philpot didn't win. Way to go, Utah. Way. To. Go. Putting aside those of you who voted for Matheson, (because I do respect opinion, even if I don't agree with it), all of you who belong in the 66% of eligible voters who didn't vote should be so, so, SO ashamed of yourselves. It makes ME ashamed to be an American. 66%!? Ugh. I hold people who voted for Matheson in higher esteem than those who chose not to vote, and that's really saying something.

Great race, Morgan. You stood for what you believed in, even though it probably cost you the race in the end, and I respect you even more for it.
Matheson, I would say here that I'm going to hold you responsible for all the promises you made, but you (being the expert politician you are) didn't say anything that you could be held accountable for. Well done, indeed.
